Town Meeting On Water Fluoridation*

Saturday, March 4th, 3:00 PM
Grove United Methodist Church, 490 West Boot Road, West Chester, PA
Directions

Is Mandatory Water Fluoridation a Good Idea?

PA House Bill 1588 would force nearly all drinking water systems in the state to fluoridate their water.

Presenting scientific and statistical evidence that disputes the alleged safety and benefits of water fluoridation will be Paul Connett, PhD, Director of the Fluoride Action Network. Dr. Connett is a professor of chemistry at Saint Lawrence University and an internationally recognized environmental activist.

The PA Dental Association is promoting House Bill 1588 that would mandate statewide water fluoridation. Local representatives of the dental association have been invited to present the case in favor of water fluoridation.

Critics of the proposed bill point out that the chemicals used to fluoridate water are not pharmaceutical grade – they come from the pollution scrubbers of phosphate fertilizer factories and are often contaminated with known carcinogens.

While most American dentists are taught that fluoride is safe and effective, a growing body of health practitioners is questioning both the safety and the effectiveness of water fluoridation. There is research indicating that fluoride in drinking water can cause arthritis, bone cancer, ADHD, and thyroid problems.

The event is hosted by Grove Justice Group and co-sponsored by Citizens’ Alliance for Progressive Health Awareness (CAPHA), PA Coalition for a Mercury-free Dentistry and ActionPA.

This event is free and open to the public.

Dinner With Zero Waste Expert Paul Connett

Saturday, March 4th, 6:30pm
Singapore Vegetarian Restaurant
1006 Race Street, Philadelphia (between 10th and 11th in Chinatown)

Come hear Dr. Paul Connett, world-famous anti-incinerator activist, director of the Fluoride Action Network, and professor of chemistry at Saint Lawrence University, give an informal presentation on zero waste and water fluoridation.

Learn about:

* Harms of trash incineration and dioxin pollution

* Model “zero waste” programs around the world (might be good for those interested in Thursday’s City Recycling Summit)

* Harms of water fluoridation

Ralph Nader describes Paul Connett as the only person he knows who can make waste issues interesting. He’s very entertaining (he went to school with one of the Monty Python actors, and it shows). He can captivate an audience while educating them about health impacts and chemistry issues as well as the political context involved.

The program will start with a presentation, followed by dinner and Q&A.

$15-25 (sliding scale) includes dinner and donation towards ActionPA. If you really want to come, but can’t afford dinner, we’ll help you out. We don’t want to turn anyone away from hearing this amazing speaker.
